Career choice

Someones interests and hobby's will be the biggest factor when choosing a path in which they want to study in. While groing up, a kid is exposed to so many interesting activities and is influenced by everyone around them. Choosing your career of a dream is something that doesn't always work out for the best because dreams can be out of reach depending on your abilities in school or your motivations. So choosing just because it's a dream can lead you nowhere, but if you succeed it can be the biggest accomplishement in your life.

The second most important influence when choosing a career is your parents. They have raised you and taught most of what you know. ''The data revealed that if parents had not encouraged their kids to attend post-secondary school, there was only a 4% chance that kids would end up pursuing a STEMM career in college. In contrast, 41% of students choose to pursue a STEMM career when parental encouragement was cited.'' People normally go to their parents first when they have no clue of what to do later on in life, meaning that it is true that parents are a big influence on kids.

Another influence comes from friends. When you see your friends do something, you kind of want to do the same thing so you could study and be with them all the time. Also, it is sometimes because you admire them and just want to follow their steps.

Immigration

A) What we can learn from Sophia's story is that not all immigrants that arrive in Canada have a hard time getting involved with the community and have trouble learning french. As Sophia described though, the majority of immigrants think it's very hard getting settled in and going out in public but there is alot of agencies that have people willing to help immigrants get used to our lifestyle.

B) One way of helping immigrants is going out into an agency and offering your help in any way possible to make it easier for the immigrant. An other way would be to not laugh at immigrants if their having difficulties in class, assuming you have an immigrant in your class, because if you laugh at them their confidance will greatly decrease and they might give up that class. The actions we take don't have to be big, anything that can help an immigrant in some way is, I assume, greatly appreciated by them.

C) Being part of the community, we are indirectly responsible for the intergration of immigrants in our society because if we don't accept immigrants there is a small chance that they will get involved in our community. To answer the question, yes we can get involved in helping the immigrants but we can't help them as much as the professionals. I would expect the people to be friendly towards me if i would move to another country and also expect them to be helpful in any way possible.

Poverty

Some causes of poverty could be a lack of individual responsibilities, being exploited by buisinesses that has alot of power, etc. The person himself is not always responsible for being poor, but sometimes it is his fault. For example, if he drops out of school and doesn't get himself a job and gets himself into drugs, he could see himself live on the street very soon. On the other hand, it could be because of bad governement policies. To try and get out of poverty, you can try to find a job. Other than that i don't really know any solutions, it isn't a well known subject for alot of people.
